Audio-Visual Archival Training Summit

8 March 2017, Paris

FIAF is hosting a one-day worldwide Audio-Visual Archival Training Summit on 8 March at the Cinémathèque française in Paris, France.

This summit is intended to bring together individuals and organizations involved in training, education and providing outreach and support for video, audio and film collections of all kinds around the world.

The summit will include representatives from CCAAA (Coordinating Council of Audiovisual Archives Associations) member organizations as well as other individuals involved in training and outreach, in order to set the stage for a more collaborative manner of working in this important area and to make a greater impact in the future.

This  event is scheduled on the day preceding the CCAAA Board meeting on 9-10 March, and is hosted by the Cinémathèque française.

A preliminary overview of the agenda for the day is as follows:

I.    Assessment of training needs. What are the needs today?

II.   Who is addressing what at the moment: Organizations/ individuals provide brief overview.

III.  Where and how best can we pool our resources and trainers?

IV.  Where can we get funding together?

V.   Partnerships: what specific ways can we work together?

VI.  Identify tangible programs that would benefit from collaboration.

VII. Concrete plans for next steps.

Invitation have been to a number of organizations, including the ACE, APEX/NYU, FIAT, IASA, ARSC, FOCAL, AMIA, SEAPAVAA, SOIMA, INA, Cineteca di Bologna and others, which are all are actively involved in training and outreach. Our goal is to build on the excellent training and outreach that many of these organizations have devoted so much of their time to over the years. We hope that the discussions will build bridges and establish partnerships.
